So you think you can......paint?

We met at Sis Lisa's house again tonight and we had a GRRRREAT time! We might be few in numbers, but what we don't have in numbers we make up in class.....and talent. If you need proof, check out our projects we did tonight. We painted birdhouses. Everyone's was unique, just like our girls!
Interspersed with our painting frenzy, we listened to a little George Strait and checked out Margaret's new phone. We talked about the three challenges each of us was issued by the YW general presidency. They are: 1)Pray every day, 2)Read from the scriptures every day, and 3)SMILE! Sis Lisa told us that the problems or questions we are struggling with in life are often answered by reading in the scriptures.
Finally, we surprised Brooke with a "Welcome Back" cake and ice cream. Our YW meeting were just not the same when Brooke couldn't be with us!

Enjoying Easter Break!

Why is it that the weeks go by faster when you are on vacation from school? This week is flying by! The Young Women were the 'official' nursery sitters for the Relief Society gardening seminar held this Tuesday night. A big thanks to Chloe and Desiree (future YW) for doing most of the work though.
Here are a few pictures that were on Jordy's picture card that I thought you might enjoy. Most are from our summer 2008 Palmyra trip.
BTW, Elder Jordan Guthrie has been in the MTC 3 whole weeks now! He appreciates all letters and as of now is leading in the letter-count race!
If you want to write him, here is his address at the MTC:

Elder Jordan Guthrie
MTC box 260
Mex-Leon 0525
2005 N 900 E
Provo, Utah 84604-1793

Thanks to everyone who has been writing him already and to all those who are praying for our missionaries throughout the world!

Our Cup Runneth Over

There was hardly enough chairs in the Young Women's room this morning for all the special young girls who attended today. Our lesson was about finding joy in our lives now. We talked about ways to find joy in our life and about the difference between things that are fun and entertaining vs. joy found in doing things that will affect our future, even eternity.
Once again, it was GREAT having so many special young women there today. Visitors: You are always welcome. HIYW: You are missed when you aren't there!

Ward Temple Trip

This Saturaday many members of our ward enjoyed a trip to the temple. It was a very special day. Jordy was able to get his endowments in preparation for his mission. Everyone agreed that it was a very special day indeed. Jordy would like to thank everyone who took thier Saturday to share this special experience with him.

A Brand New Year

As the Harkers Island LDS Yound Women begin their new year, we add a new value to our theme: Virtue. Our YW recite their theme at the beginning of each meeting. Our theme reminds us of values that we need to keep in our mind as we live each day, namely: Faith, divine nature, individual worth, knowledge, choice and accountability, good works, integrity, and virtue. Each of our young women know this and can recite it by heart. As their presidency, it is our hope that they will have it always in their hearts and minds and recite it silently when they make everyday choices.
We have the best of the best in our HI Ward YW program. Maybe all leaders think that, but we know it to be true. These are turbulent times in which to be growing up and it is our prayer that these special young women will always remember who they are and what they stand for, and that THEY ARE LOVED.

"I believe one virtuous young woman led by the Spirit can change the world."
